Apoptosis

Apoptosis

Apoptosis is a form of self-destruction or programmed cell death provoked by the organism itself. The purpose of apoptosis is the control of grow and development of cells to avoid illness like cancer (caused by insufficient apoptosis) or atrophy (caused by excessive apoptosis).

There is a family of proteases that play an important role in programmed cell death. This activity is measured by a short peptide containing specific sequences. These sequences are recognized by the caspase and are covalently attached to a colorimetric or fluorimetric detection probe.

Specifically, there are 11 or 12 of these protease enzymes confirmed in humans, which carry out a variety of cellular functions, including the one commented before.

Bioquochem under its brand BQCkit provides a complete line of assay kits focused on measuring caspase activity in cell cultures.

In the table below, you can compare the different assay kits that we offer and choose the one you need for your research.
