Nitric oxide (NO) is an important signalling molecule that participates in virtually every cellular and organ function in the body. NO is a gaseous free radical with a short half-life in vivo. Therefore, the levels of the more stable NO metabolites, nitrite (NO2-) and nitrate (NO3-), are used for the indirect determination of NO.
BQC Nitrite Assay Kit is based on the Griess method. Nitrite reacts with Griess reagent to produce an azo compound that can be spectrophotometrically quantified at 540 nm. Nitrite concentration in a sample is determined from a calibration curve using NO2- as standard.
