Glucose Oxidase (GOD) (EC 1.1.3.4) is present in certain species of insects, fungi and bacteria and catalyzes the oxidation of β-D-glucose into hydrogen peroxide and D-glucono-1,5-lactone, transforming sugars into metabolites. GOD is commonly used for glucose determination in biosensors, in body fluids and in removing residual glucose and oxygen from beverages, food and related products.
