The Polyphenol quantification assay kit has been used as a measure of total phenols in natural products. Its basic mechanism is an oxidation/reduction reaction. The original F-C assay used the carbonate buffer for pH adjustment. Additionally, the end-point of the reaction after 120 min at room temperature, which makes difficult its implementation for routine analysis.
